Periodo Azul translates as 'The Blue Period'. Pablo Picasso started to paint his pictures in blue after the suicide of his friend, Carlos Casagemas. He would paint doleful monochromatic paintings. The period was between 1901 and 1904, he said 'I started to paint in blue when i heard of Casagemas's death' I like the paintings in the blue period because they give off the sadness of the picture with the colour and then the image itself has an element of sadness.Wednesday, 5 October 2011
